I have been thinking about buying a mountain style bike or road bike just so I can use maybe once or twice a week to ride to the nearby park. I live in a town house and even though it is a spacious place, space is at a premium. Not that I am some kind of hoarder; far from it. I live very tidy. I do already have a shed but it's mostly filled with tools.
I have noticed with almost any shed the doors on them are not the most sturdy and it would be rather easy to take them apart if you really wanted to get in the shed for something, so I would definitely suggest a shed with no windows that way they can not see what is in there at all and not be tempted to break the doors to take the bikes.
This is actually something I never thought about doing, I just hang our bikes from the rafters in the garage so that they are not in the way like you mentioned when I am trying to park the car. I will admit it is a pain to have to put them up there and to take them down when ever you want to go riding. Thank you for the idea I'll start shopping around.
The thing I think you have to worry about when you decide to put up an outdoor shed is that it could become a haven for roaches. I am assuming that this is more likely to happen if you live in a tropical climate. I have actually seen it happen with an outdoor shed that I used to have. It was not a major problem, but I did have to spray and even put a fumigating bomb to eradicate them.
Not too long ago, I was enjoying an NBA basketball game being played at the American Airlines Arena in downtown Miami, when the commentators mentioned that superstar Heat player, Lebron James, rode his bicycle to the arena from his house just a few miles away. So I started thinking, if a millionaire athlete can ride a bike to the game, I should buy one, too. But I don't live in a mansion and I may just need a shed for storage.

You don't necessarily need something big and bulky in your back yard taking up space if all you are using it for is your bicycles and you can fit it under your deck out of the way. Maybe I a have been inspired by the recent emergence of reality shows which document the journey of persons who dedicate their lives to becoming inventors. I have been imagining if it is possible to manufacture a contraption that is both light and portable, and which can expand and contract with versatility or flexibility to shape itself around the thing that you want to protect from the elements, such as a car or bike. Until that is invented, a shed will have to do.
If you have rafters, that is an advantage most do not have in common. You need a garage in your home or an attic to have space or rafters. One of the readers mentioned a good point. Why would you need windows in a shed, unless you bought the shed for the purpose of making it into a work shop or to survive the apocalypse. Otherwise, I can think of many reasons besides bikes to assemble a shed.
I like the idea of having a tall skinny shed that's hidden and out of the way. Sheds are not the prettiest thing to look at and if I can get one that I can put under my deck on our patio then it would be hidden out of the way and no one would be tempted to break into it. I was looking at the door to door storage units and I am a bit unclear as to their exact intended use. From the description of its features, it would indicate that these types of portable storage units are designed to pack a room and prepare it for transport on a rig. I am wondering if it is up to the owner to transport this thing or are there moving companies equipped to carry this sort of bin.
With gas prices continually rising, I've been thinking of switching my mode of transport to cycling, at least some of the time. Whether you ride to work or school, to stay fit or for fun, I realize that any person who decides to buy a bike will need somewhere to store your bike when you're not riding it. The conventional garage bike storage ideas are floor stands, wall hooks or racks, but I never thought of a portable shed.
